채명신 사령관의 월남도착 제1성;

‥‥한국정부는 월남정부의 요청에 의해서 이번에 전투부대를 파병하게 되었고,
본관이 주월한국군 부대를 지휘하게 되었음을 크게 영광으로 생각하는 바입니다.

‥‥한국국민은 공산침략자에 대해서는 한국의 적이요,
아세아 공동의 적이라는 것을 우리의 쓰라린 체험을 통해서 깊이 인식하고 있습니다.

‥‥이제 본관 지휘하에 월남에 파견되어 있는 한국 육해공군과 해병대 전 장병은,
한국전쟁 당시에 우리의 전우였고 우방이었던 미국, 호주 및 뉴질랜드의 전우들과
더불어 월남전선에서 용맹성과 인내성을 갖고, 대공투쟁에 임하고 있는 월남국민 및
월남국군과 협력하여 우리들의 공동의 적과 대항하여 싸운다는 것은,
매우 의의가 크다고 생각하는 것입니다.

앞으로 우리는 자유와 평화를 수호하는 훌륭한 자유 월남국민과 군인들에게 최상의
경의를 표하면서 상호의 이해와 유대친선을 더욱 공고히 하기 위한 모든 노력을
다할것이며, 우리의 공동의 적인 공산침략자들을 자유 월남땅에서 축출함에 있어
여하한 희생이라도 무릅쓰고 끝까지 싸울 것을 굳게 다짐하는 바입니다.

Arrival statement by Major General (then) CHAE Myung Shin,
commander of ROKFV and CG of the Tiger Division at the welcome
ceremony by people of the Republic of Vietnam;

‥‥The Government of the Republic of Korea, upon the request of the Government
of Vietnam, has dispatched combat forces to Vietnam, and I am highly honored to
be the commander of these forxes

‥‥Korean people, through their horrifying ex-perience under the communist aggression,
are fully aware that thr communist aggressors are not only the enemy of Korea but also
the common enemy of all the Free World

‥‥I think it is a significant fact that the officers and men of the
Korean forcesin Vietnam under my command are here to fight against communist
aggression in cooperation with the courageous people of Vietnam and their armed
forces. It is also a significant fact that Korean Forces fight against our common
enemy again here in Vietnam together with the armed forcesof Australia,
New Zealan and the U.S., as we did in Korea during the Korean War

‥‥On behalf of my officers and men I solemnly pledge that we will fight against
the communist aggression at any cost and in cooperation with the courageous
people of Vietnam and their armed forces to expel all communist aggression
from the soil of the Republic of Vietnam.

I also pledget that I will do everything to strengthen friendly ties and to
promote understanding between our two Republics with high repects to
the people of Vietnam and their armed forces for their courage and fortitude

한국군 파월 경위

    대한민국 정부는 월남 정부의 요청에 의하여 국회의 승인을 얻어
1964년 9월13일 제 1 이동외과 병원과 태권도 교관단을 파월하였음
1965년 2월15일 건설 지원단(비둘기부대)을,
1965년 7월 6일 백구부대를 각각 파월했다.
    그후 월남정부의 전투부대 파월 요청에 의하여 정부는
1965년 8월15일 파월 전투부대로 수도사단(맹호부대)과
    해병 제2여단(청룡부대)을 파월키로 결정하고 주월 한국군 사령관에
    채명신 소장(당시)을 발령했으며
1965년 10월 9일에 청룡부대를,
1965년 10월21일에 맹호부대를 각각 파월했다.
1966년 6월 1일에는 건국이래 최초로 100군수사령부를 월남현지에서 창설하였으며,
1966년 9월 5일 보병 제9사단(백마부대)의 파월에 뒤이어
1967년 7월10일 공군 지원단을 창설하고,
1968년 6월 1일 야전 사령부를 창설함으로써 막강한 전부 부대로 증강되어
     월남의 평정을 위한 제일 강한 군대로서 세계 만방에 그 위용을 떨치고 있다.

A Brief History of ROK Commitment to Vietnam

Sept 13, 1964‥‥Upon the request of the Republic of Vietnam government,
                   the Republic of Korea, government, with the ratification of the
                   National Assembly, dispatched the 1st A ny Mobile Surgical
                   Hospital and a team of Tae kwondo instructors.
Feb 15, 1965‥‥The Construction Support Group(Dove Unit) was dispatched.
July 6, 1965‥‥The Naval Support Group(Sea Gull Unit) was dispatched.
Aug 15, 1965‥‥Upon the request of the Republic of Vietnam government,
                   the ROK government decided upon the dispatch of ROK combat
                   force Vietnam and appointed Maj. Gen. (then)
                   CHAE Myung Shin as commander of the ROK forces in Vietnam.
Oct 9, 1965‥‥The ROK 2nd Marine Brigade(Blue Dragon Brig) was dispathed.
Oct 21, 1965‥‥The ROKA Capital Division (Tiger Div.) was dispatched.
June 1, 1966‥‥The ROKFV 100th Logistic Command (Southern Cross);
                         was activated in Vietnam
Sept 5, 1966‥‥The ROKA 9th Division(White Horse Div.) was dispatched.
July 10, 1967‥‥The ROKFV Aerial Support Group was acticated.
June 1, 1968‥‥The ROKFV Field Command was activated
