Battle at Duc Co
This operation was the fiercest battle ROK troops had ever conducted during the Vietnam War since Korean troops first dispatched to RVN in 1965. The combat was initially broken out when the 5th Battalion of the 88th Regiment of the NVA took surprise attack against the 9th Armored Company under the ROK Tiger Infantry Division at night on August 9, 1966. At this tragic combat, a Korean armored company completely destroyed an augmented enemy battalion with the artillery shelling and even with hand to hand combat.

White Horse's Dong Hoa Ambush Operation
At mid night, an out crying "Save my life !!!" in Korean was heard echoing beyond the 5th Company's base of the White Horse 28th Regiment. Under the illumination, a shadow of a man was observed. A soldier who was desperately asking for rescue was confirmed as the radioman of the ambushing team of the 2nd Platoon. He said that the First Sergeant was dead due to VC's attack. He added even the radio set was also destroyed. He himself seemed to have a narrow escape too through the jungle in the dark after being seriously wounded.
